The Ford Agency is actively recruiting for an experienced Director of Business Development to join a well-established association in DC. The Director will lead the Business Development team, drive advertising, exhibit, and sponsorship revenue, and create innovative opportunities to expand the association’s brand. This individual will build and manage high-level sponsor and vendor relationships, collaborate with internal teams, and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives. Responsibilities Include:
Grow non-dues revenue through affinity programs, advertising, exhibits, and sponsorships
Lead and manage the business development team and outside contractors
Cultivate and strengthen sponsor and vendor relationships
Oversee affinity programs, including vendor prospecting, contract negotiation, and retention
Build and maintain a robust prospect pipeline through research, networking, and industry events
Manage departmental budgets, including expense and revenue targets
Qualifications Include:
5+ years of business development and sales leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree required; association experience a plus
Proven success managing advertising, sponsorships, and exhibits
Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills
Excellent communication, project management, and strategic planning abilities
Willingness to travel up to 20%
Candidates for this position must be based in DC, MD, or VA area or have independent plans for relocation.
