The Ford Agency is working with a dynamic and influential trade association to find a Tech Policy Director, who will focus on emerging telecom, technology, AI, and global innovation. This role will lead domestic and international policy development and advocacy efforts related to telecommunications and artificial intelligence. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker with strong policy expertise to shape the direction of high-impact tech policy and engage directly with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and global stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop and execute policy strategies related to telecommunications infrastructure, spectrum, broadband, and future connectivity technologies
Serve as a key advisor on international and domestic technology policy matters
Coordinate with member companies and working groups to build consensus on policy priorities
Support initiatives focused on responsible and innovation-oriented AI policy frameworks
Represent the organization in meetings with policymakers, industry leaders, and partner organizations
Prepare and deliver comments, position papers, and regulatory filings
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to inform strategic advocacy
Qualifications Include:
4+ years of public policy or regulatory experience, preferably within a trade association, law firm, government agency, or tech company
Direct experience with telecom policy required
Data policy and AI experience preferred
Experience engaging with U.S. and/or international regulatory bodies
Ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, and build productive stakeholder relationships
JD, Master’s, or advanced degree in public policy, law, or related field preferred
Candidates for this position must be based in DC, MD, or VA area or have independent plans for relocation.
