The Ford Agency is actively recruiting for an experienced and hands-on Interim Director of Accounting to support a regulatory board on an open-ended basis. This individual will oversee accounting operations, including AR/AP, payroll, and tax compliance, while managing the year end close, audit, and reporting processes. This is a great opportunity for a senior accounting professional who can step in immediately to provide leadership and continuity during a busy year-end period. The role is temporary and available for an immediate start!
Responsibilities Include:
Oversee daily accounting functions, including vendor payments, billing, collections, and payroll
Manage the monthly and year-end close process and prepare journal entries and reconciliations
Prepare financial reports and statements for senior leadership
Coordinate the annual audit and work directly with external auditors
Ensure compliance with all tax filings, including 990, payroll, and sales and use tax
Maintain budgets and internal controls to ensure accurate financial operations
Qualifications Include:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA or MBA preferred
7+ years of accounting experience, including prior leadership or controller-level responsibility
Experience implementing internal controls
In-depth experience with audits, tax compliance, and monthly closings
Experience with MS Dynamics or other reporting software
Proficiency with accounting software (MS Dynamics GP preferred) and Microsoft Excel
Candidates for this position must be based in DC, MD, or VA area or have independent plans for relocation.
